As one of our newer designers, Alice Temperley may not be as familiar to you as our other ‘big name’ bridal designers. A firm favourite of celebrities and fashionistas, Alice Temperley designed her own wedding dress and was soon inundated with brides desperate for that Temperley style for their big day, and so decided to launch a bridal collection, limited to carefully chosen boutiques.
Here’s a roundup of some lovely reviews of Temperley’s 2010 collection from around the internet – we’re not alone in thinking they are absolutely fantastic…
Noemi @ Wedding Belles reviewed the 2010 collection, saying “I’m a sucker for wedding dresses with lots of lace and an old-fashioned feel, like those in Claire Pettibone’s continuing collection. I just discovered another designer with the same dreamy aesthetic. Temperley London is the bridal line of designer Alice Temperley, who released it after she made her own wedding gown out of vintage lace. Each dress in the collection is just as show-stopping and unique as the original Temperley wedding dress. They’re all handmade with luxurious fabrics and inspired by vintage Hollywood glam.” Click here for the article!
Elaine @ Style Me Pretty, one of the best places on the web for absolutely stunning wedding inspiration says “If you don’t already know about Temperley London, now is the time to check out their gorgeous, dreamy gowns. We’ve just added their 2010 collection to our Look Book and we’re pretty much obsessed. Temperley London’s 2010 Bridal Collection is a little bit whimsical, a little bit fantasy and still completely sophisticated. The line was started by Alice Temperley in 2002 after designing her own wedding dress from vintage lace. Since then, she has designed a full collection of totally chic wedding dresses, each as unique and beautiful as the original Temperley gown. Temperley’s dresses are all handmade with the most luxurious fabrics and gorgeous details that a girl could ask for. Plus, with dresses ranging in inspiration and style from Grace Kelly to vintage Hollywood glam… the entire collection is sure to give you butterflies.” Click here to read the article!
Team WI @ Wedding Inspirasi summs up the Temperley ethos quite nicely: “Temperley London 2010 collection has a good mix of old fashioned charm, modern elegance and hippie casualness. Jewels, sequins, beads and cutaway details, this dress has it all in one 1940’s inspired Hollywood glamour package.”
Flushlife also reviewed Temperley, saying “Alice Temperley creates bridal gowns with “timeless romanticism” that evoke a sense of simplicity. The graduate of London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art is a force to be reckoned with in London’s social scene and her amazing designs are incredibly unique. Elegant laces and embroidery are added to simple, flowing shapes for brides who wish to exude a natural look, never fussy or overdone. Each Temperley gown is hand finished and uses exclusive Temperley lace or embroidery in its design. The highest level of craftsmanship goes into every gown and the outcome is simply breathtaking. The design house has many famous names on its client list including Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Sarah Jessica Parker to name a few.”
